Hej Diego,
Some weeks ago I tried to do some work with Dante too (also newest version 3.1 with 7.01).
I used it for steam and smoke (see my thread “mechanical animation”).
First I planned to set up the complete scene on my Mac and I have to say that Dante
didnwork very stable (killing Animator several times when clicking "wrong" buttons). And in the end the animation failed to render..."error: to less memory". (I use 2 GB with my 2x1,25 G4, Renderama. Ok, maybe thats not so much meanwhile, but
I would expect that being enough for that task).
Well…I dontknow the reason for that problems, so I dont want to blame Dante for that.
The reason could be elsewhere too  )
Fact is…I finally had to isolate this “smoke and steam thing”.
I copied it to a new project file on my PC (also 7.01), where it rendered fine then.
Somehow its generally getting harder to work in computer fields with every day. They rush on kicking out new Macs/PCs and OS systems....new software versions... and so on... the periods are still getting tighter and tighter. Sounds great on the one hand as we get new tools and functions. But on the other hand more often the next version (hard- and software) begins to sell before old bugs and incompatibilities are solved....we all know that. I guess its simply all about making money for the computer and software industry.
Users and their need of stability and working tools doesnt seem to be off interest too much. Or lets say it`s simply impossible to keep track of things with that speed of change.
Hej…
please dont take my words as a critic related to Animator or Dante or whatever in special, because they are just a small struggling part of that crazy system, which is greedy for money and is getting more and more chaotic. Maybe software development is a hard job these days, i wouldnt like to be in their shoes.
But having a job depending on that industry is not pleasant either.
And who can evade nowadays.
Sorry…I get upset a little bit…but I feel much better now… :wip:
Cheers
Tom
