Daily Speedpainting

Whoaaa you guys are getting good! I am seeing lots of improvement, its great to see!

TedNindo, your latest (cowgirl) is really great! Its very good because there are no outlines, and its truly painted. On another note, I would like to see you use a “harder” brush on some of the landscape paintings though. You notice on the desert one, when comparing it to Vyse-soa’s for example, you see the potential when going for a more defined look (but of course, this needs more time, so its just an idea).

Hi! I started paiting this and again I lost it when I was trying to make lines as accurate as possible. Took more than 1h:/ So I decided that that haven’t beed speed paiting and started again. It took only(drums please…) 25 minutes:) I’m really satisfied with quality to time comparision:)
The first one should be good base for something better, maybe I’ll do it if I find some time.

@Chriz5: Nice you got the pose. And had even time to start coloring in the 20 minutes timeframe. I like the long dynamic lines.

@wildmax. You have quite a few anatomy details in your sketch which is really good for that short amount of time.

@soundwav_: I like your style. It’s diffrent but really interessting looks almost like a traditonal painting.

@varius: cool, thats great. You did very well. the lower leggs are maybe a bit short but for 20 minutes really good pose and already in coloring mode.

After 20 minutes I just barely started coloring my sketch, but as I already said. I lost myself to fast in details and couldn’t stop so I went a bit overboard. Which is nice now and then.

@matix: Thank you and Nice to have you back. I would very appreciate if you would continue participating in this thread.
your right the hard and clean lines everywhere thats what I admire in vyse-soa’s picture. He has a very clean and sharp style.

Hi,
for today its a little exercise which could end up in a nice colorsketch:

Draw/Paint the sculpture as real human in color. Add the missing right hand.

#425

Here is my first speedpainting in this thread. I began drawing from the photo and had to change the colors and add the hand after reading the briefing. took about 30 mins.

cheers,
skiatch

#426

Very nice Skiatch and welcome to the thread.
Good anatomy details. The only thing that looks mildly strange is his left arm. The lower part looks just a pit to long or undefinde… but that just a small detail.

If you use the “insert image” symbol while posting your image, it would show up for everybody without the need of a click.

Looking forward to see more from you.

#427

Thanks for your comment TedNindo. I just took care of the link ( had problems with the imageupload-provider and the link he offered ( it was a html-link, no image-link))

#428

I enjoyed that very much. Really interessting (38 minutes):

#429

Hello again,

thats it. (21 min)

He looks more like a neanderthal man… :slight_smile:

#430

Hi.

Skiatch: Awesome sketch!

Today I tried different approach. Instead of drawing lines I started to build up image from blocks of color… It’s harder than I thought:/ Took about 1h.

EDIT: Changed contrast and blending mode of some layers.

1 hr

soundwav: I love the energy and abstraction of your sketch. It reminds me of Bill Sienkowicz (spelling?), comic book artist in the eighties and nineties.

A little over an hour on the Nintendo DS:

#433

alright!
Yeah Bill Sienkiewicz did a whole graphic novel about Jimi Hendrix,
good book.

#434

Here’s todays image. With a heavy focus on colors looking forward to your contributions

#435

Hi there,

this time it took some more time to complete this picture. (35 min)

@stone cold ninja
I did not know that there is a painting software available for the Nintendo DS.
But it seems to work very well. :slight_smile:

@varius
When I use the method to start up a image with blocks of colors, I often take a look at it with blurry eyes. On this way I fade out the details which are not of interest at the beginning and see only the basically color shapes which can be used to build up the image correctly.
Dependend on the picture it works very good or very bad.

@soundwav_

Nice work. :slight_smile:

#436

@stone cold ninja
You did that on the DS? how? I mean, what Game/Software you have used? :surprised

@TedNindo
Do you know more about this statue/fountain from the last pic, maybe what its called or something. It’s such a great piece of art.

#437

@Vyse-soa: it’s a homebrew application called Colors that makes use of the DS touch sensitive screen. It’s a very stripped down version of Painter, but the interface is very intuitive and natural with the way you hold the DS. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Check out my sketchbook thread that is–to date–all Nintendo DS paintings:

I did some research and have found this page:

Thx, I think That Nintendo DS Color thing is pretty cool for playing around.
I’ll surely try it sometime, but I guess I have to check out stuff first about running homebrew software on the DS.

Roman, thank you very much for the link, the fountain is apparently called “Fontana del Nettuno”.

Heres my try. I found it pretty hard.
I started a few times over, every time with a different approach (lineart, blocking, very thick lines…). The one, done with usual lines, came out the best I think, but it lacks many details.

Hello!

I tried to paint the bridge it took me about 40 minutes to paint little too long maybe?
