Cyber Sport Orbital Mouse?

#1

This is probably a stupid question, but I will be starting a 3D animation class and am looking at some of the 3D mice on the market.

I was just wondering if anyone has had experience using the Orbital Mouse with Modeling? Or is it always going to be the 3DConnexion line.

Thanks.

There’s no standardized API for 3D mice so application support is dependent on the vendor to make plugins. The products from 3Dconnexion have fair application support, a few gaps here and there. I doubt the Cyber Sport 3D mouse has support for professional applications. I’d suggest getting this to see you like it.

I bought one a while back to try it out. It was basically a waste of time and money for my purposes. Maybe if I was a full-time modeler it would be more worthwhile. Either way make sure you can use applications with a normal mouse just as good because most places (schools, studios, etc.) won’t have 3D mice to work with.

Thank you for your experience and opinion. I guess I was hoping for a package that would function as both a mouse and 3D mouse so that I wouldn’t have to carry so much stuff around.
