Custom rig problems - robes

Hello there,

I am recently creating work for my portifollio, and have decided to revisit some old characters for this purpose. So everyone meet the little Grim Reaper.

So here is the issue that i am having right now, you see the sleeves? Yeah big i know! In order to make animation a lot eaiser, I want the sleeves to be slightly automatic, and what i mean by this is, as the character moves his arms up and around, twisting from side to side, his sleeves should act with gravity and remain down. Now i have tried this with bones in the sleeves that are parented to the arm, and then applied a look at constraint on a dummy object, which works alright, but i have a feeling that there might be a better approach to this problem.

Please do say if that doesn’t make sense, i didn’t pass university for my grammar =/

Hello,

There a few different methods you could try:

  1. Cloth/mCloth modifier
  2. Flex modifier
  3. Spring controllers

Hopefully this will give you somewhere to start.
