curve to poly problem

hi

i make an shape with the curve tool and select the edges, when i press “p” for making poly, i get a wrong shape. it only connects the vertecs and makes the poly.
how can i get a right shaped poly?

When you’ve drawn out your shape (as in your top picture), switch to edges mode and double click the line to select it. Then select ‘Freeze’ from the commands list in the curves tab. When the dialog box pops up, make sure ‘Freeze curves as faces’ is ticked and click ‘OK’. Your shape should then become a poly.

i already tried this, but it doesn´t work. nothing happens.
