CS4 + Intuos3 - Penn Pressure Issue

#1

I have recently tried CS4 and I am encountering some issues with the Pen Pressure of my Intuos3. Most of the time it works correctly, but sometimes it paints one singular stroke with maximum pressure, although I only touch the tablet very lightly.
It seems to be connected to CPU strain, but I never had that problem with CS2.

Installing the newest Tablet Driver didn’t solve the problem.

Has anyone encountered a similar Problem and/or knows a solution/workaround?

Its an issue that I have seen in the last 2 versions of PS, its just a random issues and I end up closing PS and re-running.

Ive had this problem with Intuos2 pen tablet.
Programs PS, Alias Sketchbook, and the Open Canvas v1.1

It made me think it was the driver because of the multiple programs, sometimes it happens more often sometimes not at all.

Win XP 64/CS4/Intuos3 Pen Pressure isn’t working. Anyone find a solution to this or is wacom ignoring it’s users? I’ve uninstalled the tablet completely and reinstalled everything, deleted PS prefs and all that junk as well. I’m not uninstalling PS to try and fix this, I hope there’s a better way, I don’t want to get IT involved in this problem. Thanks in advance!!!

Solution for XP 64/CS4/Intuos 3:

Uninstall driver from “add/remove programs”>Restart
Start>run>msconfig
tick Diagnostic mode and hit ok>Restart
once in DMode, install new driver>Restart
Problem gone.

I spent a whole day trying to track down the issue. And at the end of the day all i had to do was re-enable the brush dynamics in photoshop and whala it works as intended. I dont know how those options turned them selves off but they did. This was in cs4

To better control pressure sensitivity did you adjust the settings in PS?
I included some images that make Ps’s sensitivity more like corel painter. I think this can be done in any version of ps. Hope this helps. And step 4 will be on the post below this one.

And step 4. Feldy is on the right track with this one. These are the steps to change sensitivity on Ps. And really make sure that after you change the settings to Lock the other dynamics option. So that it can be used for all your brushes and you don’t have to change it all the time.
