CS4 Interface Issue

#1

I’m slowly getting used to the CS4 interface, with one obstacle overcome.

When I double click the title bar of a document, it expands to cover up the tool option along the top, making a completely full screen document. CS3 does not do this --it expands the view to fill the backdrop, leaving the tool options visible.

How do i change this behavior quick?

wondering the same exact thing. this is a major gripe for me in cs4. i don’t see the benefit of having it go full screen. i’d love to know how to keep it from doing this

Presumably you’re on a Mac - Windows doesn’t do this.

Have you tried pressing the F key instead?

#4

sorry, but windows does do this. behavior is the same on vista and windows 7. using the F key does cycle to the ‘proper’ state of full screen+tool options, but requires far too many clicks to use (to get in and out) as to be a useful state.

I haven’t found a quick way to solve this yet. All I can figure out to do for now is click and drag the canvas to snap (blue border) to the background. I’ll keep searching for a faster way though as it does get quite annoying.

I’ve been doing that as well, but i haven’t found an easy way to get out of that mode yet.

Sorry - I stand corrected. When I tried it on a docked window nothing happened, but after reading your reply I tried it on a floating window and saw what you meant.

I think the most practical solution is to stick to using the docked windows interface, CS4 seems to be built around it which is why floating windows behave in unexpected ways.

Then you can use the icon at the top to quickly switch between modes:
