CS4 as a video compositor?

How capable is it?

Have just started using Max at work and it is likely that I’ll need to create some video walkthroughs at some point. To get a more polished look it would be good to use Autodesk Combustion.

We don’t even have Photoshop currently but when the need comes to start creating decent textures etc, my company will most likely buy a copy. It will be hard to get them to fork out for something like Combustion as well but I’m wondering if CS4 Extended will do the job?

I’m just thinking along the lines of layering up a series of render passes, adding titles, notes. Perhaps streching a few frames out also to extend the video - I don’t render duplicate frames where there’s no movement, I just stretch them out in combustion. Also does anyone know what the compression outputs are like in CS4? I mean could I stick a series of frames together, add a few bits and pieces, and perhaps motion blur, and then output a reasonably small file (similar to what I can do in Combustion)?
