CS 4 brushes question

#1

Hi all

I am starting to get back into PS and digital painting - but alas after a couple of years of being away from PS I have forgotton everything I learned:(

I am having a problem getting my brushes the right shape - I’ll explain.

I want my brushes to look like the ones in the right brush pallet in this picture…

My brushes are the ones in the right hand brush pallet - but the brushes in the left hand pallete are how I want mine to be.
I know there is way to make the brushes look & work like that in some options somewhere - so that they have the faded edges. - I’ve just forgotton howto do it.

I have a rather basic tablet and pen - but it is preasure sensitive… if that matters in this case at all.

So can someone explain to me which options it is that I need to setup in order to have my brushes like that in the left brush pallet of the picture.

Much obliged.

did you try turning the opacity jitter under “other dynamics” to “pen pressure”? size under “shape dynamics” might be nice to be turned to “pen pressure” aswell :).

don’t have cs4, but i hope it still works the same way

cheers

Thanks for the reply…

However - so far it isnt working lol.

The options you suggested were exactly what I thought to be the solution myself - but so far its no go.

I am getting the little yellow triangle next to the slide down options boxes for “off, fade, pen preasure” etc on the options that can use a tablet pen.

If I am right the little yellow triangle means my tablen & pen are not being recognised by PS as preasure sensitive. ??

In that case, dig out the driver CD that came with the tablet and install the drivers, or look them up on the manufacturer’s site. PS needs the driver to use the brush features.

Yeah - found some new updated drivers and software on the wacom site for this tablet and all things are good now

Has sorted out the shape and opacity jitter settings via “pen preasure” fine now

I just had to install the new drivers and then get into PS and actuallycorrect the settings to “pen preasure” and then do a few strokes on a canvas and it sorted its self out

Thanks again everyone.
