Crystal Dynamics is looking for experienced and supremely talented artists to join its staff on an unannounced next-generation title at its studio in Menlo Park at the heart of northern California’s Silicon Valley.
Title Description
The Material Artist role works in conjunction with a world modeling team to ensure highest quality as applied to normal, specular, diffuse and other next-generation material texture maps. This is a highly collaborative role that requires a high demonstrable level of organization and communication.
Essential functions
[ul]
[li]Previous experience as an Artist with at least 2 games shipped
[/li][li]Working with the world modeling team on next-generation content including: normal, specular, diffuse maps as well as advanced shader-related work
[/li][li]Familiarity with shader networks found in Maya or 3D Studio Max.
[/li][li]Experience using Alias Maya, Adobe Photoshop, Corel Painter and Pixologics Z-Brush.
[/li][li]Drawing, painting, texturing and UV experience a must.
[/li][li]Great collaborative and communication skills combined with a strong creative drive are a must.
[/li][li]Proven track record of strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask, prioritize and efficiently meet deadlines.
[/li][li]Ability to work well within a team environment.
[/li][li]Must have the ability to conceptualize, present, and execute ideas within a schedule, while actively participating in technical and artistic problem solving.
[/li][li]Successful team members are able to quickly understand custom toolsets and deliver assets within the confines of real time engine constraints and programming demands.

[/li][li]Understand advanced material properties as it relates to world creation.
[/li][li]Possess a thorough understanding color, structural relationship and architecture.
[/li][li]Strong understanding of HLSL, cgFX a plus
