creating smoke character with maya fluids

Hi, im trying to simulate animated smoke character with maya fluids. can anyone please guide on the simulation on how to restrict thr fluid around character only with smoke trails behind it, thank you.

Use auto resize combined with emit from object and high dissipation. On the emitter enable motion streak and use the fill method. (although note that the surface method with use max distance can create smoother emission if you need that)

And just as a small tip, inherit a small bit of velocity from the surface so that the fluid isn’t just being emitted into the grid. this will help the fluid look more like smoke.

And while im here duncan can I please make a feature request? I would like to be able to remap either the magnitude of the velocity or the temperature to the swirl strength. I’ve asked a couple of times but I’m hoping that if I keep mentioning it then you might try and squeeze in a test and see if it works.
