WIP

Found some time to work on some personal projects. This will be a learning project to sharpen my skills in zbrush. Any feedback is welcome

I wasn’t really happy with the face, so I added a subdiv and started to sculpt some wrinkles. I exported the mesh to vray to see what kind of detail i can see from max. But I’m a bit disappointed with the specs and shadows in the wrinkles. Does anyone have tips on how I can increase the details in my renders?

I lost track of my own project. I didn’t really know what I wanted. It started out as a kinda cartoon character but it wasn’t really working for me. I didnt had a good feeling with it. So I went on the internet and did some research. I downloaded some images and made a collage of images of the direction I wanna go. Now i got a clear focus. I wanna go more realistic, high contrast with a good western atmosphere.

expirimenting with lighting

nice render, the lighting looks great. the eyes themselves look a little flat though, like not reflecting the scene.
i was going to suggest bring the facial hair back or more of it, and you did, looks great.

Thanks for your reply!

Youre right, Its missing the lenses. Im planning to texture everything, so I will put extra energy in the eyes to really make them pop out of the darkness.

Nice. now i can see his eyes.
i like the darker profile more though on the face. ( this one looks good too. but the other i think is more dramatic for his facial features)
looking good

before when you posted the one with and without a mustache…i wanted to say that i see a good sheriff bad Sharif senerio (great facial features modeled). twins, one dark and one righteous. the one without facial hair having a scare down his face and one cloudy eye, same outfit but more worth and tattered for him. the other a good man, a humble man, upholding the law. a shot of the dark one standing next to his brother … the yin and the yang, of the wild wild west…just a thought…

either way i think your doing a awesome job. keep going

oh and i like the lighter hat too on him more…

(it was the render with the glazed white eyes that made me think dark version…)

I like the idea of a cloudy eye. I liked how some renders looked without a pupil. It will give more character and a bit of story. I will experiment with it in my next render. Also I was thinking about maybe putting a sigaret in his mouth. Something to add more character. It would be nice to make it a badass character. Who knows maybe after this render I can think about making a good character.

I agree with the light on his left eye. It’s a bit too flat. I think I will expitiment with a more direct light to make the shadows pop out more. In the end I think he needs a extra bit of light in his left side. Aldo the shadow version is more dramatic, this version shows more of his face. So I am going to find a middle way.

I will keep the dark hat because the image says high contrast. I like how the dark hat is in high contrast with the light skin. Maybe I will put some brown in it. But I will have to see.

I’m not sure about the cloudy eye. It’s a bit distracting. I will see in the next version if I’m going to keep it

I like it. A scare over the eye may help it(or multiple). Up to u. Looks great either way

Still not totally happy with the skin. It needs to be dirty and weathered. I’m still looking for a way to get the most out of the diffuse map. After that I will work on the shirt.
