Tomorrow Studios, Marty Adelsteins joint venture with ITV Studios, is developing a live-action adaptation of the cult Japanese animated series Cowboy Bebop. Tomorrow Studios has teamed on the project with Midnight Radio (Josh Appelbaum, Andre Nemec, Jeff Pinkner & Scott Rosenberg), who will executive produce alongside Sunrise, the studio behind the original series; Tomorrow Studios Adelstein (Good Behavior, Prison Break) and Becky Clements (Good Behavior, Aquarius); as well as Matthew Weinberg. Chris Yost (Thor: The Dark World, Thor: Ragnarok), who started his career writing for comic book-based animated series before segueing to features, will pen the adaptation.http://deadline.com/2017/06/cowboy-bebop-anime-tv-series-live-action-remake-tomorrow-studios-midnight-radio-chris-yost-1202107884/
Cowboy Bebop Cult Anime TV Series Gets U.S. Live-Action Remake By Tomorrow Studios,
I am an anime Fan but I utterly Despised that show
Waiting for that long rumored “Patlabor”
and/or hoping for a serious adaptation of GUNDAM 00.
I feel like that show actually appealed more to people who were not anime fans. I generally dislike anime (as do most of my friends0, but we all really liked that show. The Ed character got crazy irritating at times but that’s about the only thing I didn’t like.
Still though, not sure how well this translates to live action …
Funny enough, I’ve been an anime fan for years, and only watched Cowboy Bebop recently. Whilst I don’t rave about it, I enjoyed it. I particularly liked the style and attention to detail* Shinichirō Watanabe put into the fight choreography (which he surpassed in Samurai Champloo IMO). If they can capture the essence of that, then it could be a good film. I’ll hold off my opinion until I see it.
