Corrupt geo?

Once and awhile when I try to subdivide an object, around level 3 , the geometry will go wacky. It looks like some faces get skewed into infinity. See attached pic. The strange thing is this particular object was working fine for awhile. I think I went back to maya and made some minor changes and then re-imported to start over. Now I have this problem with it. I checked for non manifold geo and didn’t find any.

check also the uvs…
there is something wrong with this mesh…

Ahh my .mtl file got deleted. Is that where the uvs are? Because they are gone in mudbox. Would that be it? :lightbulb

no, uvs are stored in the .obj
are there uvs at level0…?
