Cool lightwave plugin/previewer !

Yes, this bug is on my todo list … switch your desktop to 32 bit instead of 16 (yuck)
and you will be fine … I should really give it a better error message … mea culpa !
(there are other possible causes for this problem but this is definitely the most probable one …)

Remember it’s still in pre-alpha, so I’m still allowed a little bug here and there

I was going to try that but I was lazy, lol. Going to try it now.

#83

I’m almost ready for a release … here’s a little video of the plugin in action …
the scene had half a million polys, and with pim you can work at the speed
of ‘bounding box’ … check it out …

(you might have to use save as …)

Really curious to hear your thoughts !

Thats some engine, enki !
Who doesnt want such a realtime engine within lw?!..

excellent stuff!

wow looks great but all i get in real time is blue screen of death moments after runnen
gang . doh!!:bounce:
please help

#86

This is looking really nice. It seems like you are having the pluging track the size and shape of the viewport in layout, very cool. Will your plug work in just shaded view (no textures)? And how will it handle the PER object setting of shaded/wireframe/bounding box visibility settings? You might also want to have a flag to disable the window title at the top to save the screen realestate. Looks awesome.

Does this mean competition for worley? :stuck_out_tongue:

Keep Pimping LW!

#88

would not of thought so this is a differenet way of doing things anyway I’m all for free a market, drives inovation and keeps pricing competitive
BTW any ideas on price yet??

#89

I dont really see how this competes with fPrime. PIM is a realtime 3D engine based on OpenGL, while fPrime is a progressive renderer.

#90

It will be interesting to see how it performs in the field (alpha, beta).

Looking forward to the speed though!

#91

all,

there’s no support for non-texture or per object vis settings… does anyone use that - exept for gaining speed?

pim is indeed not compareable to fprime… the main use for pim would be the ability to preview and create animations in high polycount scenes… and off course compiling viewers and screensavers…

no price known yet… alpha coming real soon now…

One thing I would be intrested in is the ability to have the exe files with a preloader / loader screen,E.G where you could place a company logo or the controls explained to allow a user to know how to navigate around a a scene then say at the bottom “hit space to continue” to allow the scene animation/viualisation to start.

Just a thought

#93

Thanks badllarma ! that feature is on my todo list … should be there in the final release …

For those that missed the movie url i posted, here it is again, it’s a little movie that shows
the plugin in action …

Fantastic work so far…really looking forward to this one.

Cheers.

#95

Cool! Been waiting for something like this for sooo long!

It’s similar to RTRE for Max (but that thing is expensive as hell, hope this one isn’t), but I have no doubt the workflow is going to be much smoother, as it often is in LW.

So, when we get to play with it?

#96

Yup my only worry as well, there is a plugin for Lightwave (to do the .exe side of things anyway already) but it is Waaaaaaaaaay too highly priced. This is why 99% of poeple here will not of heard of it, yet something like FPrime’s not only have people heard of it every lightwave owner I know has bought it!

This looks like a kick arse plugin just as FPrime, Sasquach, G2 and Maestro are, I just hope a policy of stack them high sell them at a reasonable price prevails to make all Enki[Mute] hard work gets well rewarded and we all can speed up our pipe lines either in our choice of hobby or our working studios tool set.

Looking forward to the final release…

#97

What’s the actual name of that .exe thingy for LW? I must admit I never heard of it…

Actually, there are many free options for realtime 3D, but none is elegant enough to be used in “standard workflow”.
I’m personally dabbling with OGRE 3D engine, but it’s far from easy solution as it requires advanced knowledge of C++. It’s very powerful, though.

#98

Realtime OpenGL GI & Caustics :scream: ?
There are some OpenGL apps doing that

#99

Finalvision
http://www.finalvision.de/en/index.htm

also been looking at Quest3d but the work flow for LW to Quest is far from simple and some what buggy.

Finalvision looks ideal for exe delivery BUT your stuck (as far as I know) with there splash screen which does not thrill me to say the least. :frowning: Also it’s price…
I’m afraid my programming skills do not stretch to C++

There is also Anark 3.0 (for authoring and the client). http://www.Anark.com , but they recently raised their prices making it more of a niche product.
