Cool lightwave plugin/previewer !

It’s not dead, Enki is just very busy working on it.

Can you PM me and tell me where the latest build is please as the place on the old site has not been updated for ages:shrug:

#363

Last time I spoke to Enki he was best reached thought skype.

Will this EVER come out? The website says for LW7+ and here we are at LW9.3. There must be something seriously wrong for him not to release this software. Yes, everyone would like perfect software but at this rate we’ll have something that does the same thing PIM is supposed to do long before PIM is ever released. After checking in every now and then, it appears that “it’s being worked on” but will never see the light of day. A tad frustrating, no?
It would certainly be nice if the website was updated to let us know it will be available for LW11+ or so. :frowning:

#365

Any news on PIM?

#366

Let it die! Hehe. One of my oldest still-active thread subscriptions, but I just can’t unsubscribe. It’s like a train wreck, you just can’t look away!

On the plus side, it was even more incentive not to publicise things of mine until they’re ready. So that’s cool.

#367

havn’t you heard?

it’s being put into lw10…

…dreaming…

#368

Hey! It’s only been 29 months! these things take time! I heard it was almost out of Alpha and would be going to limited Beta (to selected users though)…

In the Spinquad thread…

http://spinquad.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10343&page=5

StereoMike spoke with Enki (the developer) on Oct. 10th and:

Spoke with Enki this evening.
The following stuff is official:
http://www.origamidigital.com/reel/
Watch Halo|behind the scenes and Loco|Pipeline.
The guys and also the buggy have been captured via loco/pim. don’t know about the rest, I can only make a statement on these items, but it’s likely, that pim is also involved in those.
Of course there’s no release date, but Enki said, some of the projects near completion and then he can put more energy into mainstream pim.
Loco and all the stuff is a mocap tool programmed in pim. So all work that went into the engine for loco also went into pim.
Releasing pim is still planned (yet it takes it’s time as we all noticed).

Now of course it’s only been about a month and a half since that post, so I wouldn’t expect to see anything concrete from the developer in probably… another two years. Although it absolutely looks fantastic, I’m pretty much disgusted with the way he has handled this “release.” But then… that’s just mu opinion. :frowning:

#370

Thing is, LW’s gone through how many versions and SDK changes since this started?

By the time he finishes, it’ll be 100% PERFECT…for LightWave 8.3.

#371

This so frustrating!!! I’ve been dying to get my grimey hands on it. Feels kinda hopeless though.
I watch train wrecks too, when nobodies looking.

#372

Frustrating? Hell, there was a guy on the VTNT yahoo list that was insisting that the developer has handled the situation very well; that the developer made no promises; and that the product is selling. This was even AFTER he was told about this thread where the developer PROMISED to keep the community informed. The product IS apparently selling - but with a video package and at a VERY high price.

It is frustrating when one person believes one thing even when the evidence is there against it! I really just hope that someone else comes out with something VERY similar before this product sees the light of day - then the developer of PIM would have lost out. But then… probably not since apparently he’s working with some “big hitters” already. So we, the little guys, are outta luck. :frowning:

#373

Maybe I’m just frustrated because I’m sick with the flu right now. My nose is like a faucet!!

#374

Cool! Can’t wait for this cool plugin to come out for LightWave 8.3. Let’s see this thread started in 2005… we’re now in 2008!
Best Regards,
Zareh

This is why you should use the tools you have right now…people spend way to much time waiting for something in hopes that it will make their life easier.

Use what you have now and when new things come out then see if they fit in your workflow.

I see this kind of stuff happen with upgrades all the time.

Once a new tool is shown people say they are going to wait to work on thie project till the new release…I dont know of a single studio that works/thinks that way…only individual users…

something to think about

#376

Very true, however, I think that the developer or whoever started this thread should come here and post some news about what’s going on. The lack of information has nothing to do with people “waiting” for this tool. I’m very curious to know what has happened myself, even though I don’t really would need PIM to do what I do.

#377

The thing is Proton there is NOTHING that can do this at present! Or there is but it cost mega bucks.

for Instance if any one can direct me to a plugin / program that will create a stand alone exe file of a Lightwave scene that I can then use the keyboard and mouse to navigate around also while an animation is taking place I’m all ears and eyes

BTW your videos are great keep up the excellent work.

#378

I think the biggest problem is… we didn’t expect it to be THREE YEARS.

That and the developer renigged on his promise to keep the community informed.

And YES… thanks for the videos!!!

#379

the thing’s a dead duck, just forget about it and move on.

#380

ditto that.
