Converting footage for matchmoving and AE.

I want to know what converting method to use for my footage to work in Boujou and AE.

I tried several decompressors, but i dont like the quality of it. Can that influence the tracking?
Or should i make a proxy and the definitve version with the uncompressed one in AE?

Maybe someone has an advice?

whats your source footage?

bad quality will influence your tracking, tracking is about finding and following features in the picture.so a bad image will make it harder to follow them

My source footage is shot with Canon Legria hfs 21 MXP or FXP quality.

Can you bring it into AE? if so you could output an image sequence of tiff or EXR images. Tiff is good if you matchmoving app doesn’t support EXR, for everything else EXR is pretty good.

Converting won’t make the quality any better, so if your source feeds into AE might as well just work off of that.

Most of the tracker guys just use 100% jpg sequences.
