Does anybody know how to step by step convert a skinned character from Bones Pro to the skin modifier?
Convert Bones Pro to Skin
Hello cgsculptor,
in BonesPro is a button “SkinExport” and “SkinImport”. With this you can convert BonesPro to SkinModifier and opposite.

Thanks for the reply. I click skin export, and the mesh is no longer lined up with my rig, it is behind the rig. Also the Skin modifier appears above the Bones Pro modifer, do I then delete the bones pro modifer? And do I have to re-align my rig with the mesh that moved? Because right now when I am selected on the skin modifier, my mesh jumps behind it and if I try and rotate an arm the arm rotates all distorted. If I click BonesPro, the mesh jumps back into alignment with the mesh and works properly, any help would be greatly appreciated. I have included a picture of where the mesh goes when I click skin and the distorted rotation.
hello user
this is very easy to explain. You are doing a conversion while you are not in the reference pose. You must go to reference pose, (in BIP Figure mode, CAT whatever) and then do the conversion. If you do it in animation frame, the mesh has left the original coordinate system and it will be calculated in the wrong place.
ps. The customers have 24h support at info@3d-plugin.com, you can get there faster and more exact explanations

thank you very much for explaining this. I will use that customer support from now on. How do I know if I am in the original pose? Sorry I am a beginner.
Scratch that last question I figured it out and have the skin modifier working. Before I export this model for the game engine, do I have to delete the BonesPro modifier?
hello user,
well, you can leave it, you can delete it. Depends on the engine you use. basicaly once you have converted it to skin, bonespro is automatically deactivated, it does not matter anything to export anymore, since it is virtually dead and replaced by skin. Do a test and export it to your engine, is best way to see what works best
thanks
