Controling joint position and twist with locators?

#1

What is the best way to drive the position and twist of joints with locators? As in each joint has a locator at it’s base. The locators are also using pathAnimation to distribute them along a spline. I’m from the 3dsMax world and the way I’d do this in Max is I’d use the equivalent of a point constraint and an aim constraint. The point constraint would bind the joint pos to the locator and the aim constraint would make the joint look at the next locator and also use the first locator as an upnode. The upnode aspect is to control the twist of the joint. If I try this in Maya, I’m getting a lot of the following warnings so I’m looking for a way that better so maya doesn’t complain.

// Warning: Cycle on ‘locator14.translateX’ may not evaluate as expected. (Use ‘cycleCheck -e off’ to disable this warning.) //
// Warning: Cycle on ‘addDoubleLinear10.output’ may not evaluate as expected. (Use ‘cycleCheck -e off’ to disable this warning.) //

Hi
You could use the twist joint with spline ik handle . Set up advanced twist to the ik handle.
