Hello, So I am in the process of rigging wings for a bird and am following the “Rigging Wings in Maya” tutorial on pluralsight by Delano Athias (great tutorial by a very talented artist BTW) One reoccurring problem that I am having is when I group a set of controls, lock translate thru scale, then parent them to another group, they move. If I group them to the parent without locking values they won’t move, even if I lock them after parenting. Can you kind folk offer any suggestions? I have tried freezing transforms and deleting history on these(even though it is not being done in the tut) and it doesn’t seem to change. Obviously I am getting double transforms from somewhere but can’t seem to pinpoint how. One example is that I created curves for each feather that I then created a cluster at the end of each of those, thats it, then grouped, locked and parented, they moved.
As a test I went back and recreated the curve and deleted history/froze transforms and continued from there, when I parented the two groups the clusters and the curves moved. Any direction, thoughts, advice would be greatly appreciated, Thank you, Juan

Hi
Once you lock the transform and make it a child of the parent, maya can not pass on the values to the child. So the it jumps.
