There is too much contrast in your image. Don’t try to put very light and very dark values in all the details everywhere in the image–it creates too much visual noise and makes the image appear coarse and lacking a sense of proper mass and volume.

Instead, think about the entire image’s dynamic range of values. Some areas are lighter, some are darker, but the lighter areas don’t necessarily need to have very dark values in them too, and vice versa.

There’s also a lack of clarity in the local values–everything looks like they have similar local values because you put very light and dark values everywhere. If something has a dark local value, it shouldn’t have a lot of very light values, and vice versa.

Also, your lighting lacks logic and doesn’t look convincing. You need to learn about how light and shadow behaves, how objects cast shadows, and how the turning of forms create form shadows, as well as other aspects of lighting like radiosity, ambient light, ambient occlusion, subsurface scattering, etc. Your scene is a back-lit scene, so logically, the subject should be mostly a dark silhouette with a bright rim light.

Different objects have different surface properties, such as variations in texture and specularity. You need to show that your surfaces are not just all homogenized.

I did two quick paintovers to show you some of what I mentioned above (I don’t have time to correct all the problems in your image, so I just did some broad changes to give you an idea). One version is done considering the moonlight is the main light source, and there’s a bit of ambient bounced light from the sky dome (moonlight bouncing off the sky/atmosphere and onto the objects in your scene). The other version is showing a secondary light source in the right of the scene a bit behind the subject (it might be a giant bonfire, or any other possible light source).

Keep in mind that when you light a scene, you need to logically figure out what the exact lighting scheme is in your scene, where your light sources are, and then be consistent about it.
