Complex Map

#1

Hey Guys & Gals,

I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction please.

I am texturing for a game and the model is a 2 level game and I’m currently texturing this section which is the top floor and i want to texture the floor & walls.

As you can see i have created a psd network and started to texture. I am able to texture the floor but not the walls with this particular network.

What would be the best method to texture the walls?

UV mapping is still a confusing area for me.

Can i create 2 psd networks? 1 for the flooring and the other for the walls?

I looked into automatic UV mapping and the UV snapshot looked like a mess and insanely complicated.

Thanks
Liam

I would just automatic UV map this as its just simple blocks, it’ll look a mess initially on the grid but you have to organise them, for example put the floor UVs at the top of the UV editor window and the walls at the bottom.
You’ll also need to make sure that the UVs are not stretching/squashing when automatically mapped. But with something like this it’ll be very simple and straight forward to do.
Have a look into UV mapping on the internet, theres prob a couple of quick tutorials on the basics of it on youtube.

Thanks NightOwl

Yeah I quickly automatic mapped it and it looks horrendous. I’ll give youtube a little looks over and see how to organize it.

Thanks again for your time. I’ll update this thread when i have it completed
