yes, usually i render the 3ds max “render elements” in separated files mainly tiffs and i have no problems.
in this case i have to use finalRender that is really faster (in my case) with my animation than vray that i was using on some other project but even if i largely prefer finalRender, it has a huge lack: there are no many “specific” finalRender “render elements” compare to vray “g-buffer output channels” and the only way to have a “node id” output channel is to render your animation in rpf format… but i don’t think you can do a network rendering in rpf format… so the only other solution i found to get a node id channel is to use cebas psd manager which renders your frames in psd format with all your render elements as layers (or mask if you chose etc) that i use for stills, so this is the solution i have chosen for the first time with an animation… and then began my problems… i had to extract my psd layers to tiffs using batch command in photoshop that i surely could do in AE much more faster but i don’t have AE here
…
i really don’t have any clue why it does happen…
thank you for your interest in my problem
Edit: in fact i made a test and you can render in rpf on a network… somtimes i am just so disapointed by my so little knowledge of 3ds max after 8 years of usage
