Combustion - Draw Mask

#1

I’m using combustion 4.0.1 (the same thing happened in 4.0.0)

When I’m drawing an animated mask in combustion, I’ll often trace out the shape I want to mask, and jump forward 10 frames or so, and animate the points so the mask follows, then later, if need be, I’ll add keys between to clean things up.

Now, I’ve noticed that sometimes when I try to move a vertex between 2 key frames it moves erratically and is near impossible to place in the right position, without deleting keyframes that occur afterwards.

Does anyone know what is happening here? I assume it has something to do with animation curves.

Also, it appears that when I create a key it doesn’t create it on the current frame, but slightly before almost on a half frame.

Thanks

Anton,

I’ve experienced this on ocassion. It’s usually a corupt project. I’ve had trouble pinning it down. If you can get this to happen repeatedly I suggest you contact Autodesk and send them a copy of your workspace so they can track down the problem.

Thanks Alan; at least I’m not going crazy.

will zip it up and mail it off to them, even though the project is nearly over, hopefully there will be a fix by the next one

i assume you’ve checked this, but is your interpolation set to anything but linear? by default it is set to bezier, which gives you erratic movement between your keyframes…

perhaps the 4.02 updater solves that topic. In the bugfix list there is something about bezier masks.

yeah, 4.0.2 fixes the problem, and, as luck would have it, was released on completion day  Curse you Autodesk
