Color Correction - Automatic Way

Hi!
Studying on the web I’ve learn a way to manage photoshop Level and make image color correction. This the method step by step and then my question:
-Open the image in photoshop
-Add a new layer with full solid color 50% gray and “Difference” on Blend Mode
-Add a “Threshold” layer and move the slider on the left until there are few black areas which indicates the mid grey image area
-With the Drop Tool + Shift add a “Sample” on one of these areas
-Delete the two layers (mid gray and threshold), now the Sample show an RGB value with a dominant part
-Add a Curve Layer to adjust the curves until the RGB value of that sample is exactly the same.

With this method I can eliminate a dominant color until gray/white areas are not dirtied by a dominant red or blue or green.

My question is… there is an automatic way to do that, I’d like simply to pick a pixel in the image that I know should be grey or white and Photoshop does the rest automatically, because this method is quite tedious for a lot of images.

Automatic colour correction like that will not work on images that do not have any neutral greys in them - and colour correction is very much in the eye of the beholder. A mathematically “correct correction” may look odd or even wrong, depending on the photo.

Anyway, you can always create an action for it.

The “auto” option in Levels often does good enough job as well.
