Coffee cup with foam (3D Animation)

Hi everybody !
I’m trying to realise a filling animation of coffee cup in 3d, with foam !
What is the best way tu realise the foam animation in 3D?

If any body know!

Particles? Something I suspect RealFlow (or other particle simulation tools) would handle quite nicely. The trick, me thinks, would be in the material/texturing of the particles to make them look foam-ish.
