I’m trying to render couple of animations with alpha channels embedded into the files. I’m using quicktime animation codec for this however the files are getting too large. Are there any other codecs that offers both good compression and an alpha channel support?
codecs with alpha support
The png codec does if I remember right, not sure about the quality of compressions. If you going to process the output further stick with the best possible quality which would be the animation codec or even uncompressed.
Sorry for the late reply. Thanks to your advice I tried the PNG codec and it worked marvelously. The file size is nearly %80-90 smaller and quality appears to be the same except a little edge reduction which doesn’t really effect my work. I’m gonna try targa and tiff codecs both of which I believe offer alpha support however I think the files sizes are gonna be much bigger.
Glad it worked. Sounds a bit like mixing up things though. Targa and Tiffs ain’t no codecs but image formats. So is png. But there is also a quicktime codec called PNG which I was refering to.
