well i was doing some quick test of ocean foam shader…i thought i should post it here…
i havn’t tried particles yet…for foams…will do some tests when challange will be announced.

Seriously sounds like tons of fun, and I’m thinking that I’m in on it.

I’ve been doing some technical R&D work this week on getting decent looking spray/foam/particles generated by a collision with a boat.

I was hoping to use this as an excuse to immerse myself in Maya fluids, but I haven’t been able to find a way to drive collisions with the ocean preview plane yet, and I know I want dynamic spray, so I may have to check out the RealFlow demo…

Without plugin… it’s very challanging to create foams…
Creating ocean foam shader is very tedious job…we can use smoke,noise or celluler to fake foam but it’s not that easy…
i used mentalray but i m not happy with quick test.
the best way to do is i think in composition…with lots of layers…:slight_smile:

Ive been trying to animate procedurally proper waves without plugin and @_($&)&# its not that easy… i thought a simple noise modd and some animated displace but its not that convincing

i did it, standard max material a lot of specular, raytrace with fallof in reflection slot and a noise in bump
