Clouds, giving me trouble.

#1

I am trying to create a short that includes characters that are clouds. I’m having difficulties with getting a good “puffy” cloud feeling. Any suggestions would be wonderful. This is what I have right now, first test.

It has a halo effect on it, but I’m not much caring for that.

blender 2.5 has volumetrics and a nice cloud generator addon so it would be best for you to try blender2.5

Thank you, I’ve been trying to wait till 2.5 gets fully released before I jump into it, but I guess it’s time for me to dive in.

Give it a couple of days - next beta release is imminent

Blender 2.53 is out.

Cloud Generator come as a AddOn. There is a lot of info in this Blender Artists thread.

Good luck.

I got 2.53 and it’s nice, and so is the addon. I’ve just learned that my computer doesn’t like it too much though, and what I was looking to do is just out of my reach atm. Thanks for the info though.

It may not be your machine. any comp has a tough time with clouds because of the many calculations involved.
If you want volume clouds be prepared for some long render times.
also found if you are doing animations with the volume clouds in blender, it is best to turn off the light cache completely or flickering may occur.

Here is a neat cloud tutorial from blenderguru.com (free)
