Cintiq Companion and Remote connection

#1

Hello all. I was wondering if there is a way to control my wired desktop computer using a Cintiq companion either with a usb cable or wireless. I know most of you are thinking why? The companion is a full computer onto itself? Well, I like to use the stylus to draw touch up and quickly go about projects while working on projects that require more screen real estate like many 3d programs do. What would be the best way remote desktop connection or Vm ware? My desktop is win 7 and the companion is win8.1. Any advise would be great.

Cheers, J

Most remote desktop aren’t that great for graphical work. They tend to lag a bit depending on your network and are more suited for less heavy application like support or dev/business.

Beside you can use a second monitor with your Companion, so you can use it as a viewport and keep the tools and other viewport on your other monitor if your 3d app is multi screen enabled.

If both your workstation and the companion are hooked onto same GB LAN, it will be easier.
For controlling the worskstation from the Companion, programs like Teamviewer or Input Director (using the Worksatation as slave system) can help, of course you will loose Wacoms pressure and tilt sensitivity, keeping just the precision of the pen.

For expanding your workstations windows and bringing one in the companions display, there used to be a program back in the day called MaxiVista.
