Cinema 4D suspended

#1

Hi there,

I understand this is a question more for a Windows 10 forum but perhaps someone here can shed some light on this issue.

Today, all of a sudden, Cinema 4D doesn’t properly start anymore. When I launch it I can see the task appearing in the task manager. After a few seconds though the leaf icon appears next to the C4D icon in the task manager and the program is then suspended.

I’m on Windows 10, C4D 21 (latest release). Everything worked fine until yesterday. I didn’t do any significant changes to the system.
I usually run C4D from a taskbar shortcut. Now I’m also trying as administrator from the installation folder directly. No luck.

Have you tried restarting with an empty plugin folder or disabling your virusscanner?

Thank you @wzwaan

You’re spot on. It’s Redshift.

Not sure what’s going on, I’ll post on the RS forum.
It worked fine until yesterday although one thing I actually forgot to mention is that I changed the UAC settings but even reverting back the old UAC settings doesn’t seem to fix the problem.

Edit: I figured it out. The cache folder I used to use for Redshift it’s on a SATA drive which is now throwing me errors. The folder is still there but corrupted hence Redshift cannot access the folder anymore.

Glad you figured it out. Good to know about the cache error. I also use a seperate cache for Redshift.

Thank you again

I wish RS would automatically skip the cache folder in case it doesn’t exist anymore and revert back to the default path.

The good thing is that from the preferences.xml it’s super-easy to point it to a different directory.
