Position: Character Rigging Supervisor (Digital Features)

Department: Lucasfilm Animation (U.S.)

Summary:

The Character Rigging Supervisor’s primary responsibility is to oversee the Character TD (Rigging) department to define, plan, and implement the Character and Prop Rigging workflow to be used in the Digital Feature.

Primary Responsibilities:

[li]Responsible and accountable for determining, modifying and maintaining the most effective and efficient technical approach and workflow for the character rigging pipeline.

[li][color=white]Works with the Digital Feature Key Creatives to anticipate the show’s challenges and finds efficient, effective and realistic solutions.
[/li][/color]
[li][color=white]Collaborates with the Animation department to define the Character Rigging pipeline and requirements.
[/li][/color]
[li][color=white]Leads and supervises the Character TDs (Riggers), and delegates work where appropriate to achieve timely delivery while providing critiques and mentorship.
[/li][/color]
[li][color=white]Responsible for understanding and communicating implications to other departments during decision-making process.
[/li][/color]
[li][color=white]Liaisons with Production Management to determine and meet production quotas and goals.
[/li][/color]
[li][color=white]Participates in the recruiting process of hiring new talent.[/color]
[/li][/ul]

Education, Experience, and Skills:


[ul]
[li]Bachelor’s degree or equivalent degree in computer science, computer visualization, or computer animation required.
[/li]
[li]At least 6+ years of work experience as a Character Supervisor for Film or TV.
[/li]
[li]Strong communication and proven problem solving skills required.
[/li]
[li]Proficiency with LINUX/UNIX required.
[/li]
[li]Expertise with Maya and or/other high-end animation software is required.
[/li]
[li]Experience with csh, python, TCL, perl, or other scripting languages is desired.
[/li]
[li]Reel/Portfolio demonstrating artistic ability in rigging and setup along with animation, modeling, rendering, and figure sculpture desired.
