Position: Character Rigger (Digital Features)

Job Purpose:
The Character Riggers primary responsibility is to design, create, and implement character rigging systems and animation interfaces to be used in Animation of 3D characters and props for the Digital Feature production.
Primary Responsibilities:

[li]Designs and implements animation control rigging systems for biped, quadruped characters, and props using a combination of software packages and proprietary tools.

[li]Works with the Animation Director and Animation leads to ensure that all rigs meet the shows requirements.
[/li][/ul]
[ul]
[li]Oversees the character and prop rigging through the animation pipeline.
[/li][/ul]
[ul]
[li]Develops tools and procedures to optimize animation workflow.
[/li][/ul]
[ul]
[li]Additional responsibilities may include performing tasks generally described as surface simulations (cloth or skin). Ensure that CG characters will employ all current character setup procedures.
[/li][/ul]
[ul]
[li]Troubleshoot and wrangle character-rigging issues for artists within various disciplines.
[/li][/ul]Education, Experience and Skills:
[ul]
[li]Bachelor’s degree or equivalent degree in Computer Science, computer visualization, or computer animation required.
[/li]
[li]At least 3 years work experience required in 3D CG for Digital Animation, or Visual Effects film.
[/li]
[li]Strong communication skills required.
[/li]
[li]Proficiency with LINUX/UNIX is required.
[/li]
[li]Expertise with Maya and/or other high-end animation software is required.
[/li]
[li]Experience with csh, python, TCL, perl, or other scripting languages, is desirable.
[/li]
[li]A reel demonstrating artistic ability in rigging, and setup along with animation, modeling, rendering and figure sculpture.
