I asked the staff of the site to change my user name through the normal method of doing so.
its been over a week, still no change, didn’t get any message saying the name i asked for is not available, simply nothing.
do all “tickets” take this long?

Who did you ask to change your username ? I received no such request and most of the forum leaders would have pointed you to the place where you can do it yourself.
