The CGSociety has been in the planning for some time now. We had intended to wait a little longer before launching. But lase week we had a massive response from members of CGTalk wanting to donate or contribute towards paid services… and so we brought forward the release.

There is a lot going on behind the scenes and new services will roll out when they are ready. Last week we launched the CGWorkshops – which are a key part of fulfilling the CGSocieties education commitment.

Appointment of the Advisory Board is also a key factor as these people will make guide the direction of the CGSociety. They will help to identify and focus our training, conference, awards and member promotions. With their combined guidance we will form various sub-committees that will direct and drive the vision of the CGSociety worldwide, including: education, conferences, publications, awards, technical, artistic, regional, games, visual effects, animation, film, architectural visualization, community and industry relations.

The advisory board will also assist with the relations, liaisons and promotions of affiliate organizations. We want to work with and promote all the current organizations that our members already participate in. There are a great number of young digital artists entering the industry who have little awareness of the benefits offered by cinematography, visual effects, illustration, motion picture and the many other worthy organizations servicing parts of the global digital arts community.

Please feel free to email me at mark@ballisticmedia.net if you wish to nominate someone to the CGSociety Advisory Board.
