I think the logo that the forum currently uses will be ok. I think it would bw best to start working on character ideas and how the preexisting logo will integrate into the overall design.

#3

the folks over at cgtalk.ru got some cool icons made …
http://www.cgtalk.ru/forum/showthread.php?t=19217

but I think it´s easier to use our “cg-with a ring”-logo. we don´t have the time to find a sign that convinces everyone here, mh?

is that cgsociety-logo avaiable in a higher res or even in vector format?

#4

Here’s a highres logo http://equinoxx.cgcommunity.com/temp/cgslogo.psd (thanks to equinoxx)

I vote for designing a new one – It’s very important that any graphical element on the design looks good and the generic “atom” design is… well… hard to make it look fitting.

#5

yeah, what’s the color going to be?
also we should think of a new design. oh man this sounds so fun.
Let’s win it for our forum guys and gals.

#6

get started people! im going to sleep and i wanna see the logo when and if i wake up! :deal: lol

#7

this actually will influence how the characters are created, so lets make it good!

#8

i was all for just using that logo. But this competition is more “fantasy” themed and the cg society logo seems more sci fi. SO i think we should try and come up with something else.

#9

should we think about wich “side” or make a logo for each side, IE holy/dark/earthy/spacey? or what ever else there is?

#10

so we have to put the logo ON the model?
like can it be on the gun or does it have to be on the character? i saw that on the past models they dont really have logos on them…

#11

Digiegg, this is the first comp were it seems that integration of team colors and insignia will count towards points. I look forward to seeing what we can come up with. I’ll be back on the forums bright and early and working on some sketches tomorrow.

Saw this on the GA forums:

Team Colors are basically what your forum is laid out in: Could be a bit off on some of these but…

Polycount: Black and Green. Deep blue for accents
GA: Red and Gold
3dTotal: BlueGrey and white
CGTalk: Red, Black and White
CGLand: orange and white with black accents
CgTalk.Ru: Bluegrey with red and white
3dvf: white and silver
hxsd: orange, red and white

Did some quick tweaks to the original high res version. I originally had “The ultimate Dominance War Team” but it sounded too cheesy… so I changed it to just “Dominance War.”

#13

thats cool stuff. were not supposed to put a banner on our model though. Only a little Insignia. And i was re-reading the rules and we dont have to have one. It sounds like we need either an insignia or Team colors.

“Your character must possess your team’s colors and/or your team’s insignia (if your team has one). If you don’t have the colors or the insignia located somewhere on your character, your entry will not make it into the top 50. Please represent your team properly. This is a team event so make your team proud!”

So what are are team colors? im thinking red and black

#14

i would go with red and black as our main colors with the light and dark grays [like on our main page] as secondary. and just using the red and white “CG swirl” as our logo/emblem.

now you don’t have to use these colors, but the logo/emblem should be somewhere. it could be engraved on some armor or something [let’s be creative… that is what we do].

but that’s just me, i want to hear what to hear what everyone else thinks.

#15

I didn’t make it for the model but rather just to help with the color scheme and style. I will try and work with the Logo/Emblem and see what I can come up with.

#17

eirenicon @ That’s pretty sic looking. The sword is a tad generic but I like the overall feel and style of it. I think that’s a few tweaks shy of being just right! I perfer the middle one, when you make a logo black like that, then it opens up a lot of stylistic ways too apply it (Change the color, use it as a mask, etc.) so whatever logo we use, I vote we make it all black like that!

Also, I like the black and red with grays for colors just fine. It goes well with the concept I have in mind so that’s my vote for the final colors.

#18

I was fooling around in photoshop, trying to set a tone for my first sketches.

This is that.

I’ll probably try again after I draw a bit.

#19

eiren, looking pretty cool man!
I think rather than a sword, you can place something more epic.
Like an acient artifact for instance. Just something more powerful (crazy hammer w/ spikes or some acient orb that’s about to crack open with wrath of computer modeling power… i know it’s geeky)
but i think it’ll add a big punch to it.

#20

Nice work Tim! That looks awesome but I do agree that the sword could use some more “spicing” up.

#21

I really like that sword idea.

but what about making it a little bit more bit up and or used.

also maybe instead of it just being in the back ground why not make it look like it is stuck in the ground or something?

Just a thought…
