castle matte

#1

just a piece i did to kill some time at the studio

scrolling time!, thanks for the crits its really helping out!

#2

The top of the castle breaking the through the top of the picture bothers me. I think it would be more effective if the top of the castle was visible, otherwise I think this looks very good.

thanks man, but i felt i had to take another direction in order to make this matte work, making it more dull and credible

#4

That looks much better. This would look really good as a night scene too. Great work!

It looks good, but the scale of the castle bothers me, it has the design of a large scale, grand castle, but judging it relative to the foreground rocks next to it makes it look small, almost like a disneyland-esque scale (sorry if this seems harsh, the look is right i’m just talking about the size).

Being picky, there’s also an edge in the mid-right of the painting (about halfway up the hill) maybe where 2 photos haven’t been blended quite perfectly, but that’s a quick and easy fix.

edit- well you keep on changing your image so my comment looks silly now ;), you rascal!

seriously though the castle looks a lot better now, it ‘sits’ much better in that position than the one before

#6

can i see the starting pic?

#7

this matte changes every time I look at it

but it looks pretty good to me now, the castle sits in the scene nicely.

Yeh looking better now  only crit, the forground mountains look a little stretched to the far left and right.

Looks great to me, very believable comp and lighting.
