Hi Guys, long time no see. I have finally got myself sometime to start on one of the new matte painting after a long time. It is inspired by a trip from Egypt later last year. I am looking for some suggestion, or comments for the final tweaks. Hopefully can help me to push this image to the next quality level . Thanks

I like it, nice colors, is just that the dust storm still looks like clouds, maybe giving this a more “wall” look and less sharp detail could help, take a look at this reference
Thanks Mate. I could make the dust strom a bit of more vertical, and more like ‘wall’ with less sharpness.
and do you think it is good to left a gap at the top of the dust strom that shows a bit of sky, or compeletly cover with it ?
Thanks for JJASSO’s advice.
I have tweaked Dust Storm to be higher and more vertical. less like clouds. What do you think now ?
Any other thought would also be welcome.
Heyo!
I think you can work on black levels next, the desert and the buildings have really dark blacks and could use a little more environment light like what you have on the dust wall to match up in Z space.
Hi David
Nice to see you here.
Do you mean the doors and windows need to have more bouncing light ? or the buildings in general ?
Here is couple of more tweaks,
- Added more bouncing light in the dark/shaded area in general.
- Tweaked the dust in front might provides more natural looking.
any more thoughts on this ?
Thanks
