Can someone help me figure out how to do this?

Im working on this project for class, and Im trying to create a brushed aluminum look for this shape (grey):

This is the brushed look that I like :

How can I achieve this effect around this shape that looks pretty decent?

and also, Is it possible to emboss text into an image like this?

Excuse the very rough example as I knocked it up in a couple of minutes but should give you one way of going about your task just using layer effects.

ZIP with the PSD attached as well for you to download showing how i set up the layers, though i’ve had to reduce it down loads to make it small enough for the attachment, so it doesn’t quite look the same anymore

what it looked like before cropping it down tiny for the PSD:

hope it helps you a bit.

Wow that worked out really well! Thank you very much. I just have one more request to anyone interested! How can I do stitching and the crease inbetween the stitching?
The path of it in my project will follow that grey square in the earlier picture.

to get you started, try a square brush and adjust the spacing settings in you brush palette, draw a path where you want stitching to go and then stroke this path with the brush you set up for the stitching…etc.

Why are you asking people to do your school work? Shouldn’t you being doing it so you can learn?

Im not asking people to do it for me im asking people how would I go about doing something so I can experiment and learn. I wouldnt have known how to do that embossing in the leather without some direction.
