Can I use Unreal Engine for final frame renders with Maya animated characters?


I’m super keen on working with realtime rendering for fast turnarounds and client changes. I’ve never used UE before but I’ve been keeping an eye on it for a long time wondering if it is ideal to be used as a renderer for scenes/characters created and animated in Maya. Is the learning curve for doing this fairly easy/quick? I used Maya heavily from about 2003-2011 but only about once or twice a year since then. Is it possible and practical to model and animate in Maya and do drag and drop materials in UE and render them out as final frames? Is this something that is done often? Is my rig able to handle it? (4270HQ 4 core i7, 32gb ram, Geforece GTX 970m 3gb).
