Can I stop seeing through the object?

#1

I’m working with the blender hair particle system, which is supposedly extremely versatile and able to make a lot of hair styles, but this one thing seems to be completely blocking my ability to do this; while in particle mode, the camera ‘sees through’ the object so that when I’m looking at the face to try to mess with the front of the hair, the back of the hair makes a solid curtain so I can’t see what I’m doing. Similarly, what i do to one side of the hair, is also done to all the particles on the opposite side. Is there any way to turn this off and make the object solid again?

The ‘Limit selection to visible’ button (2nd one from the right in the viewport header) should do the trick.

actually I was having this problem too - the limit selection to visible does not work with particles - you can see the particle fur through the object and can comb it through the object - which tends to create very bad headaches - but today is your lucky day! The problem has been fixed since the 2nd alpha official release. If you download a new build off http://www.graphicall.org/builds/, the problem will be gone.

Yay!

I tested it and it worked flawlessly in 2.49b on Ubuntu - perhaps it’s a bug of the windows build.

Ah yes, this was a 2.5 bug that I was referring to.

Sorry I took a while to reply, which of the builds is good to use? I assume any of the latest ones, but sometimes the latest can be buggy.

Thanks for the help though.
