Can I import HumanIK rig into 3dsMax

#1

Hello,

I have a character that was rigged in Maya with HumanIK but I need to import it into 3ds Max. Can I just import the character or do I need to create a another rig or setup?

Thanks

Nope. You will need to re-rig it in 3ds max.

I heard I could save it as an FBX and it should work.

You would get the points and bones in the hierarchy in some form, perhaps even the animation, but you would have to re-rig them in max if you wanted to actually use it.

There seems to be a way to convert 3ds max CAT rigs to HumanIK, but I cannot find the opposite.

Howdy,

Well, from what I saw in testing my FBX exporter plugin for Cinema 4D and importing it into other applications, I don’t think 3DS Max’s FBX importer/exporter supports constraints and IK. It only seems to support joints and skinning.

Adios,
