Can I convert a Lightroom XMP preset to use in AE CS5?

#1

Hi,

I have a preset that I like in Adobe Lightroom. It’s just a simple XMP file. Would be nice for me to use it as a preset for my videos as well. Since they are both Adobe products, one would think there be an easy way to use it?

Thank you
Mark

Huh? Have you seen LR’s adjustment tools anywhere in AE lately? This is utter nonsense. Just because programs are from the same vendor, mustn’t mean their underlying mechanics are the same.

Actually, if you drag a DNG into AE, it brings up the ACR adjustment tool. Which is exactly LR’s adjustment tools. You can then pick a preset (which can be imported from LR). Too bad one couldn’t go one step furthor and apply it to the video.

Also I dug through the LR XMP preset file and all it has are slider adjustments. I dug through AE and manually adjusted the similar ones. I just couldn’t quite get it exact. I’m certain LR does a bit more magic in the background.
