i recently bought a Canon 5D MkII, but PS CS3 -which I own and work with- isn’t (and quite aggravatingly is not going to be) compatible to the camera’s RAW format.
Do you know a tool which can batch convert the files to the CS3-compliant RAW version?
Adobe provide a tool that will convert files from various specific camera raw formats (including the 5DII) into the DNG format. DNG is the Digital Negative Format and is a raw format that is supposed to be both portable and future proof. The idea is that whilst there is software around today that can read 5DMII raw files, this may not be the case in 20 years.
They update the DNG converter as new cameras are released. It is not tied to a specific version of Photoshop and, best of all, it’s free.
cool, thanks a lot!
I already noticed that DNG files from CS4 Raw converter are compatible to CS3… The problem only is that DNG output is not batch-able (neither via the ‘batch’ command, nor via action).
So, let’s take a look at the DNG converter…
Another Problem was that converting RAWs to 16bit TIFF is indeed batch-able, but the file size is just too uneconomic -a 15MB RAW gets blown up to 60MB…
Still, the DNGs are considerably larger than the RAWs as well, but only twice as large, which however is acceptable in terms of storage…
Hey,i have one 40D and i use the Adobe Brigdet to convert and work the files because i use Cs2 but you now have the Adobe Elements that is the best to use,in a quik and nice way to work. And after make the ultimat edit, and calibret customize your fotos…
After you convert in TIFF you have to convert agen and i adevise to do in save for web, that gave a good quality in a douwn size.
Important is always see the dpi,in several fotos make before a prove.
And dont forgeth de CMYC formate to print…
Sorry about any caligrafic,or grammatic mistak,i’m not a kitte expert in Englash
