C4D Animation To Blender

#1

Hi folks,

I created a model in C4D and animated it. The scene also includes an animated camera.

Since Blender got that nice smoke simulation I tried to export the animation from C4D to Blender. Unfortunately, that’s the point where things got messed up. Blender displays the model way too big and the animation has obivously not been exported.

Can anyone tell me how to export animation to Blender porperly?

You may want to try collada (.dae) though animation interchange always seems problematic

I tried Collada and the result was a little bit better. However, the model is too big and its rotation is wrong.

But thanks for your reply

Yeah, it works a treat for animated cam and geo…ideal if you just need blender smoke and some geo obstacles or geo mattes.

If you have R11.5 then you can skip a few steps, as .dae export is broken in R12 MAC. Maybe R12 PC version works, but I haven’t gotten around to trying that yet. If you have any deforming geo in C4D that you need to import into Blender, then there is a .mdd export plugin for free, but I haven’t used it for a while, so just google it

R13 should have the collada export fixed as well as a 1.4 version , but then who has access to it yet
