C4 impressions (especially timewarp)

Who out there has had a chance to actually use Combustion 4. I’m curious how good people feel about the upgrade in general (not really looking for heated debate on Autodesk as a company or anything).

More specifically though i’m curious how people feel about the Timewarp operator. It seems fairly intuative and easy to use, but how do people feel about results. I’m still having trouble telling if C4 does frame blending that is essentially cross dissolving frames or if it does more of a true ‘tween’ between frames (like twixtor or shake 4). I realize it has multiple options for frame blending but i’m curious how well it can do major slowdowns and still look good like it was shot with a high speed camera instead of it looking like slowed but blurry footage.

Any examples would be much appreciated as well, personal or otherwise.

we are using C*4.01 on four seats here doing Vfx on a feature film and have REALLY been putting it through its paces. So far I have found the time warp quite adeqaute and not too slow. Although at 2k I would seriously recommend pre-rendering. from what I am seeing it just uses averaging to do frame blends. Nothing impressive like optical flow retimming a la shake twixtor, Inferno’s motion estimation.

Never doing speed ups here not slow downs. Slow downs even with optical flow tend to be a bit of a dodgy thing ! They really depend on the footage in question !
