Bullet broke my scene

#1

Hi I have a sim with bullet debris flying all over the place (Maya 2015 OSX). After I convert my objects to bullet rigid bodies the scene is 800mb larger and yesterday it took 5 hours to open the scene. I tried with instanced debris and copies - same result. :surprised

I have to switch to cloth now because of the deadline, but anybody knows why this is happening?

Thanks

Perhaps you saved it on a frame other than the start frame and it tries to sim on load?

If its a .ma file, you can change the start frame in a text editor.

hey HowardM the idea was brilliant but it’s not working… I changed the time range and the current frame to 1 1 1 but it’s still loading forever. Ah man the suspense was high here hahaha. Thanks : ) I don’t understand why this is happening, another Mac specific thing maybe : (

Maybe disable Bullet in the text file?

Perhaps Duncan will shed some light…

Do you start maya from terminal or from the icon?
Try from the terminal and see if there’s anything interesting in the output.

And yet another idea: from terminal start maya with -noAutoloadPlugins command line parameter to see if you can get the scene to open without any unnecessary garbage.

Thank you all for your help, I really appreciate it. I’ve never been able to re-open my bullet scenes in a decent time (it still takes several hours) but I am now able to bake the sim to alembic. It was not working with the send to alembic option in the bullet menu, but the native maya export to alembic works. So I can open scenes with baked geo in them - I was just not able to bake until now.

It seems that the problem is with the .ma format! When I save my scene to .mb I can reopen the file in a normal time : S

I submitted a ticket to Autodesk.
