Brush strokes appear like artifacts/ pixelated - PS CS3

#1

Couldn’t find any relevant to my issue, thread here.

I’m experiencing the following… Every brush stroke I make, regardless of the tool being used - healing/ regular brush etcc. Every newly created pixel/information appears with a bunch of deformed pixells, wrapped around. When zoom “in” or “out” with the smallest magnification, the picture clears and its all fine again. So I presume that this has something to do with some display setting within PS or the vga drivers. My sys spec are: win xp sp3; lcd monitor; ati vga with catalyst - the latest;

Also, this is only an issue with PS! Corel Painter, GIMP, art rage etц work absolutely perfectly! Unfortunately I cannot forsake PS due to its photo retouching advantages I need for my work :frowning:

Thank you!

My first guess would be an issue with the video card.

Exactly which ATI card do you have?
How old is the card itself?

I don’t know about CS3 but CS4 I find is pretty GFX card intensive.

The vga doesn’t seem to be the problem rather than the driver. The card is ati HD3870, and as I said, every single piece of soft - graphical or a game, goes smoothly. Just this crazy thing.
Basically, what happened is; my windows 7 (the latest MS cra*) stopped working with all adobe products (CS3), which I was using just fine, till a few days ago, when all of a sudden something went wrong. So I got myself a win xp sp3 running on a separate drive. Installed everything, and when tried PS CS3, this happened. Only with PS! The actual app works great in terms of performance etc; my pc is powerful enough… Thanks!
