a lively illustration of a great Roman soldier, hope you like - Photoshop
Brave Soldier
I like this image. I think there need to be more contrast to the image overall (separation of characters from background). The only other issue is the lion on the right closer to viewer appears a little “washed out”. I wasn’t sure if perhaps you were trying to play with depth of field effects or not.
Overall, I think this is a fun image.
Why is the lion on the right not looking at the soldier? Are there other soldiers in the arena that it’s looking?
The background seems a bit vague, as if you were too lazy to give it some appropriate level of detail.
The composition could be more interesting. Right now, you have the main character smack in the middle of the image, yet it’s an action scene involving multiple characters. You should read up on classical composition guidelines and learn the basic ones like Rule of Thirds, Golden Ratio, and Divine Proportions.
thanks for the comment, I will try to study these points in order to get a better result ! ![]()
The bg ground is confusing. You need to place both the bg and the characters in the same perspective space.
Id get rid of the lion on the right. Make some foot pounding dust puffs trailing along his meandering lion dodging path.
Maybe have a real lion killing warrior standing in the distance, fists on hips, in bewilderment, as he watches the lions chase the fear filled quarry, ignoring him.
Also, you should rearrange his cape so it flows in response to his path of motion.
Heres a quick po with bg suggestions:
Perfect, the composition was actually much better … an illustration is old but was willing to redo, many great advice, thank you.
Nice paintover, Bill. It would look more exciting if the horizon was tilted though–for a sense of drama and dynamic action.
