Books on Painting with Painter

Does anyone have suggestions on great books to learn drawing and painting with Painter?

Personally I found Don Seegmillars first book Digital Character Design and Painting the best one to learn from as it has proper tutorials. It also focus’s on painting from scratch from drawings not auto painting anything. It is out of print now but you can still get a new or used copy if you’re lucky. His second book, Advanced Painter Techniques, is a good follow up, but the first one the best to learn from. Also his painting style appealed to me more than other books.

There are others out there, but these are the ones I have:

[The Photoshop and Painter Artist Tablet Book](http://www.amazon.com/Photoshop-Painter-Artist-Tablet-Book/dp/0321168917/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1225717268&sr=1-1) is interesting but was too much of a general overview for me (as well as not completely focusing on Painter) and a bit basic - but maybe good for a real beginner to digital. I believe there's going to be an updated version in Jan 2009.

[Patinter IX Creativity](http://www.amazon.com/Painter-IX-Creativity-Digital-Handbook/dp/0240806697/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1225716685&sr=1-1) ([Painter X Creativity](http://www.amazon.com/Painter-Creativity-Digital-Artists-handbook/dp/0240809297/ref=pd_sim_b_6) is out but I haven't got it) - I thought it was too focused on copying photos - giving them an impressionist look, and generally playing with hit and miss techniques, which wasn't what I wanted to paint like - ie drawing a sketch and using Painter to paint in a simulation of a tradional media, and not just using autopainting or scripts. But if an impressionistic look is what you're after it may be worth a look.

[Painter IX Wow](http://www.amazon.com/Painter-IX-Wow-Book-WOW/dp/0321305329/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1225716806&sr=1-1) ([Painter X Wow](http://www.amazon.com/Painter-X-Wow-Book/dp/0321503252/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1225716834&sr=1-2) is out but I haven't got it) - Is a handy book to have, but it isn't really a tutorial book, it's more an addition to the help menu as it lists the various tools/functions and menus and gives an overview and brief tutorial on each, which is helpful if the help menu isn't clear.

Personally I find the Painter WOW books encouraging and complete.
